What changed?

Facebook business Pages now emphasize whether someone recommends the business rather than presenting every user with the older one-to-five-star workflow. Existing ratings and review counts may still appear on a Page.

Facebook stars vs. Recommendations

The phrase “Facebook star rating” remains common, but Meta’s current help documentation describes business feedback as Recommendations and reviews. People who are logged into Facebook can publish a Recommendation when that feature is enabled for the Page.

Do not promise that every person will see the same buttons or navigation. Facebook features can vary by device, Page type, account, and region.

How a customer can leave feedback

  1. Sign into Facebook.
  2. Open the business Page.
  3. Look for Reviews, sometimes under More.
  4. Follow the available prompt to recommend—or not recommend—the business.
  5. Add an honest explanation when the prompt allows it.
  6. Review the audience setting and publish.

If no Reviews area appears, the Page may have Recommendations turned off, the feature may not be available in that context, or Facebook’s navigation may have changed.

How a business enables Recommendations

Meta’s current desktop instructions require someone with appropriate Page access to switch into the Page and open its settings:

  1. Log into Facebook and select the Page profile.
  2. Open Settings & privacy, then Settings.
  3. Select Page and tagging.
  4. Find the option allowing others to view and leave reviews.
  5. Turn that option on.

Turning the option off disables Recommendations and removes the Page’s rating and reviews from view. It is not a way to hide only one critical review.

How to see recommendations for your Page

Meta currently directs Page managers to switch into the Page, open the Page, and select Reviews. On mobile, rating information may appear under the Page’s About area.

Meta may remove spam reviews. Because removals can change the displayed count or score, keep internal reporting separate from assumptions about why one item disappeared.

How to request Facebook feedback ethically

  • Ask eligible customers consistently rather than only the happiest ones.
  • Request an honest review, not a positive review.
  • Do not require a recommendation in exchange for an incentive.
  • Do not write the customer’s review or pressure them to use specific claims.
  • Make participation optional and respect the customer’s privacy.

A broader multi-platform review program can include Facebook when it fits the business and customer audience. Google-only Review Growth should not be described as a Facebook review service.
